Rain at Hampden

09/09/08 - Abi, David, Danny, Frank, George, Graham, Keiran, Shaun and myself.

Yes, rain at Hampden does sound familiar but today we were at Hampden school today to weed out the flower beds. It did not stop raining the whole time we were there but we managed to get the beds looking good before we were asked inside to have some lunch. The soup was great and heated me up a treat! We went back outside after lunch but the rain was still on and we decided to to back to the base. Some stayed on to watch a film but I went home for a hot shower to warm myself up, in September!

Finishing off beds at Toryglen school

02/0908 - Abi, David, David, Danny, Elizabeth, Frank, Frank, George, Reza, Shaun, and myself.

Today we went to Toryglen primary school to finish off the flower beds the group put in a few weeks back. We have put in flower beds made with sleepers and we want to create woodchip paths around them. We had new volunteers today, Frank and David, and they both seemed to enjoy the day. We cut up the turf and then put down some material to prevent the weeds coming up and then covered this with woodchip. The weather was great and we managed to finish off in good time, despite having to move all the turf back up to Malls Mire. One of the teachers came out and they also seemed impressed with the work.

Garage is tidy at last!

26/08/08 Danny, Elizabeth, Keiran, Shaun and myself.

Today Abi was at a meeting, so I took the group today. Abi and Danny had removed the trailer from the garage as it took up too much space and therefore we had to get the garage back to a tidy state. I don't think this floated anyones boat but once we got all the stuff out we had the place tidy in no time at all. Then it was off to the Glenmore garden to give the place a tidy up and repair a wee bit of repair as there had been some vandalism. We also had some cardboard to rip up for the compost heap, what joy! Once we got this that done, we headed off to the Hampden school gardens but the janitor was not in and we could not get the keys. Abi arrived back from her meeting and we decided to call it a day.
cheers
